2023 Dodge Journey – Rumors circulated about the next-generation Dodge Journey and the American company’s intention to use Alfa Romeo Stelvio as its foundation.
More than three years later, speculation continues. This time around, MoparInsiders reports the brand is working on a new utility vehicle oriented towards the performance of five new five-door passengers.

According to publication sources, the vehicle will be based on Giorgio’s architecture, which supports the Alfa Stelvio and Giulia and can be used for rear-wheel-drive models with optional all-wheel drive.
The successor to The Journey – regardless of whether it continues to use that name or switches to an all-new moniker, will be roughly the size of an Italian crossover and will be affected by the Charger sedan in terms of its exterior design.
2020 is the last model year of the front-drive MPV, and all the underlying wheels are based on the 2005 platform developed in tandem with Mitsubishi and Daimler.
Also known as the Fiat Freemont or Dodge JCUV, Journey probably won’t die long. It said FCA would bring back in 2022 as a 2023 model.
Just like other current Dodge models in the lineup, the new sport utility vehicle will be offered with several different powertrains, including HEMI options that top the range.
2023 Dodge Journey Engine
Earlier reports indicated the base engine would be a 2.0-liter turbo-four turbocharged with 276 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Including the Scat Pack model will be available for performance-focused UVs.
The biggest problem with Journey’s redesign is the 50:50 merger with Groupe PSA. Alfa Romeo has borrowed bits and french bob for the new Tonale crossover, leaving Giulia and Stelvio as the only Giorgio-based models in the lineup. However, the plot thickens from here.
Sergio Marchionne and several other officials at Fiat Chrysler have for years confirmed or suggested that brands like Dodge would borrow Giorgio for rear-wheel-drive/all applications.
Even the Maserati is developing a compact-ish crossover manufactured in the same factory as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio.
This turn of events gives little credibility to the Mopar Insiders report, but the question is, how does the new Journey look? Pixel artist Kleber Silva entered the scene with a rather singly rendering of newcomers, featuring a Charger SRT Hellcat face and a black hood over white paint. The full-width rear lights are also clearly evasive, emphasizing the SUV’s attitude.
2023 Dodge Journey Release Date
Even though it’s all preliminary and unofficial information at this point. Nothing has yet been confirmed, but MoparInsiders assumes that journey replacements will arrive by 2022 as 2023 models.
Before that, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will launch the next-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee and a three-line variant of that SUV, also based on Giorgio’s architecture. This should happen sometime next year.
