New 2022 Dodge RAM 1500 TRX Supertruck

2022 Dodge RAM 1500 TRX – The TRX is the most powerful production half-ton pickup ever built. engines that offer best-in-class horsepower and torque no longer require artificial noise enhancements to create authentic sounds.

The battle for the best high-performance pickup trucks has just drawn now that the Ram 1500 TRX 702-horsepower has entered the arena. The Hellcat-powered half-ton has a Ford F-150 Raptor right insight, but until its Blue Oval rival adds more power and improves its interior game, ram rules.

In addition to the competition, TRX is an impressive and intimidating machine. with a body 8 inches wider than the regular Ram 1500, and its off-road capability has been altered. This is thanks to a stronger frame, more advanced suspension, and a myriad of other enhanced characteristics.

Ram 1500 TRX 2022 is also loaded with very luxurious interiors and packed with all the latest technology. The only question left is whether TRX can fly higher on the jump than the raptors that now seem obsolete.

Ford deserves a credit sleeper load for fueling the factory-baked desert-runner craze that the pickup segment took by storm. But with our 702-hp engine, advanced suspension technology, and ram 1500 truck of the year 2019 winners, TRX aims to be the world’s first true super-truck.

Given how Ford has approached the F-150 Raptor and Toyota Tundra TRD Pro (two of TRX’s most direct competitors), you’d be forgiven for thinking that the TRX is little more than a hot-rodded Ram 1500. Actually, the change is much broader than that.

What’s new for 2022?

The Rams have been competing with the F-150 Raptor since the debut of the badass concept truck back in 2016, but now the wait is over and teasing has turned into reality. What’s particularly neat — aside from the fact it packs a Hellcat 700-plus horsepower motor — is that TRX production looks pretty close to what was promised.

With intimidating inflated bodywork, bed-mounted spare tire carriers, body-colored bead-capable wheels, and many other off-road items, the most radical Ram is, thankfully, fully aware.

RAM 1500 TRX Features

For starters, TRX gets a beef frame that’s 74 percent different from the standard Ram 1500. It then gets a unique 18-inch wheel with Goodyear’s 35-inch all-terrain knobby tires, and a game-changing new suspension from Bilstein that combines a long-distance reservoir and a large 2.5-inch diameter piston with electronic valve damping. All this adds to the ultimate goal of making TRX capable of shaking rocks and soaring over sand dunes as it loafs through traffic on the freeway.

How can we forget the Ram machine? The Supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V-8 has been modified from dodge and Jeep duty to make it capable of functioning at extreme off-road angles and in wet and heavy dust conditions.

Making torque of 702 hp and 650 lb-ft, TRX inhales through a new functional hood spoon and grille with the Passthrough Ram logo. It exhales through a new exhaust manifold and X-pipe, air spent coming out of the end of a 5.0-inch exhaust tucked in a steel bumper. In the TRX, the engine is paired with a new high-capacity, full-time, high-capacity four-wheel-drive system.

2022 RAM 1500 TRX Price

Although the TRX starts just north of $71,000, it’s a lot of trucks for the money. No other stock pick-up truck makes 700-plus horsepower and looks as aggressive as Mike Tyson in his heyday. Although the basic version certainly comes well, it doesn’t have some features that we expect to be standard. For example, heated steering wheels and heated front seats are extra valuable, and otherwise only available with a Level 1 package.

That pushed its price past $75k but brought a smorgasbord increase. cargo box lighting, flat-bottom steering wheel wrapped in leather and microsuede, storage compartment under the rear seat, and more. We’ll choose that option as well as the Trailer-Tow package to maximize the ability to pull pickups.

Those who want adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assistance, a head-up display, or a digital rearview mirror are handcuffed to a loaded Level 2 package that puts the TRX close to the $80,000 mark.

Dodge RAM 1500 TRX Engine

Lurking among the protruding TRX fenders and under its smooched hood is a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V-8. Better known as the Hellcat engine, this special version produces 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, which is delivered to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. During our testing, the TRX shot up to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and completed a quarter of a mile in 12.3 seconds at 110 mph.

That makes it the fastest pickup we’ve ever tested. Despite its large pavement weight and large footprints, the Hellcat-backed Ram is surprisingly refined and easy to handle on paved roads. However, its supercharged V-8 is ready to emit an interesting sound from its exhaust pipe. Of course, TRX is meant to play in mud, rock, and sand as well.

Along with a reinforced steel frame, it offers a beef suspension built for bending and bound with more than 13 inches of travel. It rolled on a large set of 35-inch all-terrain tires mounted on 18-inch wheels that contributed to the truck’s 11.8-inch ground clearance. Ram said hellcat half a ton can also ford up to 32 inches of water.

Each TRX is equipped with enough underbody coating to protect the Brink truck, Bilstein remote reservoir damper, electronic locking rear differential, and a giant 15.0-inch front brake. What else? The terrible ram has ousted the reigning king of high-performance pickup trucks, the F-150 Raptor after we pitted the two against each other in a comparison test.

RAM 1500 TRX Towing Capacity

TRX can attract up to 12,750 pounds, it can still attract large amounts. It has a maximum towing capacity of 8,100 pounds (100 more than the F-150 Raptor) and is capable of carrying up to 1,310 pounds of payload (120 more than a Ford).

RAM 1500 TRX Fuel Economy

The EPA estimates TRX will get a low 10 mpg in the city and 14 mpg which is not much better on the highway. Those numbers are much lower than the 2020 Raptor, which has a rating of 14 mpg city and 18 highways. Once we have the opportunity to run Ram on our 75 mph highway fuel economy route, which is part of our extensive testing regimen, we can evaluate the world’s real mpg.

Ram has redefined expectations for the truck’s interior with its latest half-ton pickup, which delivers rich-looking materials and perfect insulation from outside noise. That level of luxury and refinement is seen continuing at TRX, which is offered solely as a crew cab with short cargo beds.

Inside, the fabric upholstery of the base model and standard equipment is based on the Ram 1500 Rebel. However, optional TR1 and TR2 packages make the cabin look and feel much snazzier thanks to the leather-covered surface and a mix of microsuede and carbon fiber accents.

The TRX flat-bottom steering wheel has a pair of standout paddle shifters, but there is also a floor shifter located in the center console. TRX’s top options include a digital rearview mirror, head-up display, and heated, ventilated front seats.

Mounted vertically in the center of the dashboard on each TRX is a 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It offers Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, built-in navigation, and SiriusXM satellite radio.

The screen can be divided into separate menus so that multiple apps can be opened at once, and also features physical knobs and buttons on the bezel around the screen for more intuitive controls. The truck can also be equipped with the mighty 900 watts Harman Kardon sound system.

2022 Dodge RAM 1500 TRX Release Date

TRX 2022 RAM may go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2021. That price may be a little worrisome, but Ram believes it has given potential customers plenty of reasons to spend money on Hellcat-powered pickups.
