2023 Dodge Hornet: New Turbocharged SUV Redesign

2023 Dodge Hornet

2023 Dodge Hornet – Dodge will make a new vehicle. The Dodge Charger, Challenger, and Durango are not yet viable.

Not long ago, Dodge confirmed an electric muscle car was due in 2024, but another new model would debut before then. It won’t be an electric muscle car but a sleek, sporty SUV called the Hornet.

According to Mopar Insiders, the Dodge Hornet will debut for the 2023 model year as the company’s distant cousin from the upcoming Alfa Romeo Tonale.

Stellaris CEO Carlo Tavares pointed out the slide that Dodge will launch an unnamed electric vehicle sometime in 2022.

In March 2020, FCA filed a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for the Hornet nameplate.

2023 Dodge Hornet Engine

plus the recent rumors, and it’s pretty clear what Dodge has planned. The SUVs will have different powertrains and will sport very different exterior styling.

The Hornet will be powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 270 horsepower and 295 Lb-ft. The machine is also found in other Stellantis models, such as the Jeep Wrangler4xe plug-in hybrid.

Tonale will feature a 1.5-liter inline-four with lightweight hybrid technology. Engines could also be offered in the Hornet, but this is still uncertain.

The Hornet will have an optional all-wheel-drive system. Dodge considers the Hornet a replacement for Journey, even though it won’t offer a third row and is built on a compact platform.

This makes it more like a substitute for the Dodge Caliber, which was discontinued in 2012. After 11 years of running, Journey was finished in 2020.

2023 Dodge Hornet Redesign

Dodge’s lack of crossovers has been a problem ever since. This is a big deal, given the growing popularity of this segment.

The Hornet is a Dodge crossover that aims to change this. It should also be fun to drive, as Dodge makes it. Production on the Hornet will begin in the middle of next year at Pomigliano D’Arco in Italy, alongside Tonale.

The name of this compact SUV could be the Dodge Hornet. It will be available in 2023. According to a Mopar Insiders Report, citing an unnamed source, this is possible.

It will be similar in size to the current Jeep Compass. The Dodge Hornet is thought to be based upon the Alfa Romeo Tonale.

Next to the Alfa Romeo Tonale, the Dodge Hornet will also be built at the Pomigliano D’Arco factory in Naples, Italy.

Dodge’s new electric vehicle has been codenamed GG internally or 5920. The speculation phase is still ongoing for Dodge Hornet.

There is speculation that the Dodge Hornet, or whatever it’s called, will replace the Dodge Journey. However, it offers only two rows instead of three.

Dodge Hornet is Coming with Alfa Romeo Tonale

The Hornet nameplate was initially tied to AMC, which was a hallmark of the American Malaise Era. Dodge last trademarked the Hornet name in March 2020.

However, they have been considering the name for several models for some time. In 2006, Dodge even launched the Dodge Hornet concept.

It will be based on the platform used by Alfa Romeo. The financial crisis soon followed, and the project was discontinued. Stellaris seems ready to give the little SUV another try.

According to the report, the crossover will use the same front-wheel-drive platform as the Alfa Romeo Tonale and will be built at the Pomigliano D’Arco facility near Naples. No need to worry about having an all-wheel-drive available.

2023 Dodge Hornet Release Date

According to the report, the New Dodge Hornet SUV will be available for purchase in 2022. This means that we will likely start seeing prototype vehicles launched before too long.

While it’s unlikely that the Hornet will be as loud as a Dodge vehicle, it might be worth seeing how much Alfa Romeo DNA goes into the Hornet. The Stelvio SUV is considered a high-quality SUV, and the Hornet may be fun to drive.
