2022 Dodge RAM 2500: Super Heavy-Duty Truck

2022 Dodge RAM 2500

2022 Dodge RAM 2500 – The RAM 2500 is a heavy-duty version of the quarter-ton Ram 1500, complete with a larger gas V-8 or Cummins I-6 turbodiesel ludicrous torque figures.

RAM introduced the current 2500 generation for the 2019 model year, and the truck has undergone little change since then, although the Limited Night Edition has been added for 2021.

We hope the 2022 Ram 2500 offers impressive cranes, payloads, and efficiency. Best in class, and can gain more weight than you can imagine. And also provides a smooth ride and the most luxurious interior in its segment.

The RAM 2500 competes with other heavy-duty pickups, including the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, GMC Sierra 2500HD, and Ford F-250 Super Duty.

The largest Rams boast maximum pull and engine torque figures—they can pull up to 37,100 pounds, and their Cummins diesel produces a torque of up to 1,075 lb-ft. Plus, both the heavy-duty Ford and Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierras drive as smoothly or as luxuriously as rams.

That’s because the rams’ most luxurious interiors are quiet and lined with rich materials. There’s also no shortage of high-tech options, with plenty of driver help and an extensive 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

This Ram wouldn’t be a good pickup if it couldn’t pull and transport and work with the best of them and managed to achieve that.

The truck’s powerful gas engine is responsive, and the 850-lb-ft Cummins diesel makes it easy to pull. 2500 currently has a much more convenient quality of uncharged driving than its predecessor as well.

Consider the price advantages of the Ram 2500 over its competitors from Ford and GM, and it becomes more attractive. Both entry-level and top-spec models weaken competitors in terms of price.

2022 RAM 2500 Models and Pricing:

  • Tradesman: $36,715;
  • Lone Star: $40,465;
  • Big Horn: $40,465;
  • SLT: $41,400;
  • Laramie: $50,135;
  • Power Wagon: $56,030;
  • Limited: $59,200;
  • Longhorn: $59,625.

Most Ram HD buyers are willing to pay for diesel, but the standard 6.4-liter petrol engine is competent, even at 3500. For the best mix of capability, space, luxury, and price, we’ll stick with the best popular model, the 2500 4×4 Crew Cab Laramie.

Although more is sold with Cummins, unless pulling a large trailer is a top priority for you, stick with the 410-hp V-8, which is faster around town and pairs with an excellent eight-speed automatic transmission.

With the money saved, the spring for the differential skid is limited, and the air suspension is equalizing the load, which further improves Ram’s already impressive driving quality.

However, if you plan to off-road, skip the air suspension and add the Off-Road package. He added Bilstein shocks, skid plates, and downhill control.

2022 RAM 2500 Performance

Smaller Ram heavy-duty pickups can be ordered with V-8 gas or inline diesel-six. The gas variant uses a naturally sucked 6.4-liter V-8 engine that delivers 410 hp of power and 429 lb-ft of torque.

The V-8 gas is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission to drive power to the rear wheels. Epa did not evaluate fuel savings for heavy-duty trucks, but when our RealMPG team tested the Ram 2500HD Power Wagon with a 4WD and Crew Cab body style, the result returned 10.2/15.3 mpg on the city/highway.

If you need maximum performance from your heavy-duty Ram, choose diesel. It’s an expensive option ($9,300 on the 2020 model), but the performance improvements are worth it.

The diesel engine swaps V-8 gas and an eight-speed automatic with a 6.7-liter I-6 turbo and a reinforced six-speed automatic.

The oil burner delivers 370 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque that pulls the stump. We did not have the opportunity to test the RealMPG diesel 2500, but the 3500 Crew Cab model with 4WD and high output version of the I-6 reached 13.2 / 18.0 mpg.

All Ram 2500s are offered with standard RWD, and 4WD is available except the Power Wagon, which is only available with 4WD.

RAM 2500 Towing and Loading Capacity

With Cummins HO and 1,000 lb-ft of torque, the Ram 3500 has a towing capacity of 37,100 pounds and a maximum payload of 7,680 pounds.

When equipped with that engine, the more popular 2500 4×4 Crew Cabin model offers a maximum payload of 2,380 pounds and a maximum trailer weight rating of 19,010 pounds.

Those are strong numbers for the class. With the 370-hp Cummins version, the 2,500 4×4 Crew Cabin can carry £3,240 and attract 16,870.

With the standard V-8, trucks can also handle £3,240 and 14,370 cranes, which is more than enough for most weekend jobs and expeditions.

Like most pickups, Ram’s trim level and cab style mean interior materials, passenger space, and the number of technological features in the cab can vary greatly in quantity and quality.

A single cab, a spacious four-door Crew Cab, and a large Mega Cab (which boasts the largest rear seat in its class) are available. While heavy-duty trucks from Ford, Chevy, and GMC Parts are also large and luxurious, the Ram has the best interiors in its segment with luxury car level details, extreme comfort, and clean, modern design.

In contrast, the highest trim levels offer premium materials. The Longhorn’s top trim even gets stripped wood and gold trim on the dashboard, doors, and gauges, along with a Longhorn logo hand-stamped onto the truck’s wood’s top glove box door.

The cabin design also features functional controls and plenty of interior storage space. The tiered center console can accommodate laptops with a 15.0-inch screen.

Each Ram HD is also equipped with standard acoustic glass and active noise cancellation fastened into the audio system. The result is a truck with a quiet luxury car inside — even a diesel model.

Cabin Configuration

Unlike trucks offered by Nissan or Honda, the Ram 2500 is offered with a wide choice of cabins and beds. Heavy-duty Ram can be booked with a regular one-row cabin, a two-row crew cabin, or a more spacious two-row mega cabin.

Regular cabin models can only be booked with an 8-foot-high bed; crew cabin trucks are available with beds measuring 8 feet or 6 feet 4 inches; The 2500 mega cabin is exclusively offered with shorter box bed availability changes based on trim.

Cargo Space

The Ram 2500 offers seating for two or three in the form of a regular taxi and five or six if you choose a crew version or mega cab.

All body styles include 40.9 inches of legroom at the front; The crew cabin variant offers 40.2-inch rear legroom while the mega cab provides 43.1 inches like a limo.

Choosing a shorter 6-foot-four-inch bed generates 57.5 cubic feet of cargo volume while the 8-footer provides 74.7 cubic feet.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Ram also packs its heavy-duty trucks with in-cab technology that rivals some costly luxury sedans and SUVs, including the latest infotainment technology.

Ram system is intuitive, with simple menus and instructions. It also responds quickly to user input and a large, well-placed 8.0-inch touchscreen. Ram also boasts a giant reconfigurable 12.0-inch touchscreen, which is the largest in its class and gives the truck’s interior a high-tech look and feel.

The system also features navigation, subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspots, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For your device, the truck’s interior has five USB ports and up to three 115-volt outlets, which can handle up to 400 watts to run or charge the appliance quickly.
