New 2021 Dodge Journey USA Powertrain Review – The Dodge Journey 2021 is a hands-down of the cheapest three-line SUV you can buy today. Although the design shows the age and features are increasingly outdated, it cuts the price of its competitors by thousands.
Dodge cut the number of available trims on Journey from three to only two to 2021: SE and Crossroad values. Another important piece is the absence of an all-wheel drive and an optional V-6 engine that is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The only powertrain available now is the 172 ancient-HP 2.4-liter four-cylinder paired to a four-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. Buyers can expect the addition of a standard back garden to assist all models as well as the standard sunroof for the Trim Crossroad level.
Dodge also simplifies process selection options with the introduction of the popular Equipment Group that bundles many features together, depending on the trim level. In the SE Trim value, the package gives you a six-way adjustable driver seat, UConnect with Voice command and Bluetooth, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, three-zone climate control, security alarm, and a leather-wrapped Shift button and steering wheel.

With minimal options to choose from and minimal value-added from the Popular Equipment Group at this level, we’ll skip everything and stick with bare-Bones Journey.
The Journey SE and Crossroad trim come with four-cylinder underpowered machines that are best avoided – unless you can’t because V-6 is no longer offered. The 172-HP engine is a pathetic underpowered and four-speed automatic transmission that is reluctant to Downshift more of real-world performance.
Not many three-line crossovers are entertaining to drive, so travel and handling them are assessed on the curve. Even so, the heavy handling of Journey and the unresponsive transmission left it far from getting a good rating from us. It’s a puddle in the corner with a lot of body roll and not precise steering. However, the benefits of this tenderness are a comfortable journey on the freeway.
The four-cylinder engine has the worst EPA rating between competitors with similar powertrains, with 19 mpg in the city of driving and 25 MPG on the highway. By comparison, the 2019 Honda CR-V was rated in 26 cities and 32 MPG on the highway, while the 2019 Toyota C-HR was rated at 27/31.
2021 Dodge Journey Interior
The Journey Interior is far from upscale, but the controls are easy to use. Getting anyone to fit in the third row — even the child — needs them in the second line to compromise their legroom. Cheap-feeling bits like a plastic shifter and hollow interior door that sounds-Trim panels are especially terrible on the priciest version. Some of the luxurious features including adjustable passenger seats, refrigerated seats, and heated back seats are crucial in their absence from the selection list.
Practicality is one of the few areas where Journey shines: The interior is easy to configure and has a lot of Cubby storage for odds and ends, even if Total cargo capacity is not as high as some competitors. You can fold 50/50-Split The third line and the 60/40-Split-second line to expand the available cargo space, although Journey offers at least the total amount of cargo space of the vehicle in this class. In addition to the expected compartment in and around the console, there is also a large dustbin under the front passenger seat pillow, as well as two-compartment under the floor in the second row.
