The current generation of Durango has been around since 2011, and although it received an update in 2021, it will be redesigned in the 2024 model year.

The GT package on the Durango offers several improvements over the base SXT model.

For an additional $3,000, the GT trim offers a long-range start, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, fog lights, a power liftgate, 20-inch wheels, and dual exhausts that provide 2 more horsepower.

The Durango GT is powered by a 3.6L V6 gas engine producing 295 horsepower and 260 lb/ft of torque, paired with rear-wheel drive and 8-speed automatic transmission.

In terms of competition, the Durango GT faces off against other three-row SUVs such as the Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander, Chevrolet Traverse, and Kia Telluride.

The sportier Durango R/T model, which comes with a 5.7-liter V8 HEMI engine, competes with the V8-powered Ford Explorer ST and Jeep Grand Cherokee L.

The 2024 Dodge Durango GT is expected to have a starting price of around $39,000, though official pricing has yet to be released.

As the next-generation Durango moves from a unibody frame to a body-on-frame architecture, it will likely share some powertrain and features with the Jeep Wagoneer, including a possible plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version in the future.

With the upcoming redesign and switch to body-on-frame architecture, the 2024 Dodge Durango GT is poised to offer increased towing capacity and overall performance, making it a more competitive choice in the midsize SUV market.
