2024 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost: Modern Version of Dodge Challenger RT SE

2024 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost

The Dodge Challenger Black Ghost is the latest Special Edition model—part of the Challenger society and the fueled end-of-road chargers that came before this muscular car went electric—and pays homage to a legendary mysterious black 1970 Challenger.

Aptly nicknamed “Black Ghost,” natural muscle cars sometimes roamed Detroit’s Woodward Avenue fifty years ago or passed through an industrial street called Stecker before quietly creeping away, not being seen again for months or even years.

The chances of seeing the modern Black Ghost Challenger are almost as slim as the original look in the 1970s: only 300 Black Ghost Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody muscular cars (powered by 807 hp) wrapped in Pitch Black will be produced.

It turns out that the original Black Ghost was a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T with a gearhead’s SE package named Godfrey Qualls.

Interestingly, “GQ” is a Detroit cop, perhaps a conflict of interest that could help explain the implicit nature of Black Ghost’s emergence and disappearance. He was a motorcycle policeman, and Black Ghost had to pull a GQ motorcycle to the racecourse.

Dodge Challenger Black Ghost Exterior

On the exterior, the new Black Ghost comes with a modern look from the original, straight-to-black “gator leather” roof vinyl graphics, Challenger script badges (grilles, fenders, and spoilers), and white bumblebee rear fender graphics.

A chrome Dodge badge on the front and chrome fuel filler doors offsetting the black exterior. (You could tell Quall was a cop because he chose the locking gas cap.) Black six-piston Brembo brakes help stop the 20×11 Satin Carbon Warp Speed wheels.

The 2024 model is expected to increase the horsepower of the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody by 10 out of 797.

Like the classic model, it has black “gator leather” roof vinyl graphics, a Challenger script badge, and white tail graphics.

The vehicle with Pitch Black exterior paint has a black six-piston Brembo brake system, a 3.09:1 rear axle ratio, 20 by 11-inch Satin Carbon Warp Speed alloy wheels, and carbon fiber bezels.

On the inside, the Last Call Black Ghost Challenger features an original carbon fiber bezel, a Dynamica suede headliner, an Alcantara steering wheel with a red SRT logo, and a Black Ghost interior instrument panel badge.

As a side note, the badge displays the Fratzog logo. While the original wasn’t, the new Black Ghost has leather, as exhibited through the seats and Alcantara/Laguna leather door pads.

Black Ghost is the sixth of seven special edition Dodge “Last Call” models. The five previously announced are the Dodge Challenger Shakedown, Dodge Charger Super Bee, Dodge Challenger and Scat Pack Swinger Charger, and Dodge Charger King Daytona.

Dodge Challenger Black Ghost Interior Engine

The Black Ghost will feature a supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 engine that produces 807 bangs of raw power and 707 feet-pounds of torque.

With an additional ten horses on board, we estimate Black Ghost will fly up to 60 mph in about 3.2 seconds and complete a quarter-mile sprint in 11.7 seconds.

2024 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost Price

The 2024 Challenger SXT costs $30,545, and the 2024 Challenger Black Ghost Special Edition costs $99,315.

What is the Black Ghost Challenger?

The Black Ghost Special Edition is based on a muscle car with a HEMI engine that drove down Detroit’s famous Woodward Avenue in the 1970s.

In the 1970s, Godfrey Qualls owned the first Black Ghost, a black 1970 Dodge Challenger RT SE. He was the king of Woodward Avenue.
